Facelift and Rhinoplasty in Queensland – Bundaberg, Mackay and Surrounding Areas

A rejuvenated appearance and even a completely new aesthetic can be achieved with facelift and rhinoplasty procedures at our Queensland facilities, serving Bundaberg, Mackay, and the surrounding region. Elite Cosmetic Clinics and Pacific Plastic Surgery are overseen by Dr. James Gaffield, one of the most experienced and respected plastic surgeons in the area. Dr. Gaffield is committed to reducing the signs of age and bringing facial features into better balance with these commonly performed procedures.

Facelift

Medically referred to as a rhytidectomy, a facelift can give you the appearance of looking years, even decades younger. Candidates for facelift are typically patients over 40 years old who have strong skin elasticity and bone structure. This popular aesthetic enhancement procedure diminishes some tell-tale signs of aging such as:

Facelift addresses these issues by surgically tightening underlying muscles, getting rid of excess fat, and smoothing out the skin of the face and neck. A proven effective facial rejuvenation technique, facelift can be combined with other procedures, such as eyelid surgery, tummy tuck, and breast augmentation for an even more comprehensive makeover.

Facelift Procedure

Dr. James Gaffield can perform facelift procedures under general anesthesia at any one of our convenient, state-of-the-art facilities. During the procedure, a discreet incision will be made near the temple, and continue down behind the earlobe. The skin is lifted and the underlying muscles are tightened. Excess fat and skin are removed, and the incisions closed. These incisions are hidden in the hairline or natural facial creases, and virtually impossible to detect. The entire facelift procedure usually lasts about four hours, and patients can go home the day after surgery.

Facelift Recovery

During the first few days after a facelift, the head will need to be bandaged and kept elevated. There will be some swelling and bruising after a facelift; however, these side effects will diminish as the face heals. Dr. James Gaffield can help manage any residual pain and discomfort with medication. Although any strenuous activities should be avoided for at least two weeks after a facelift, you can generally get back to your daily routine after 10 days.

A facelift can give you a more youthful, refreshed appearance with a significant reduction of lines, wrinkles, and other visible signs of age. Dr. James Gaffield will explain all aspects of the procedure with you at your initial consultation, where you will decide if a facelift is what you need to meet your cosmetic enhancement goals.

Rhinoplasty

Many people are dissatisfied with the shape of their noses, often feeling deeply self-conscious about their facial appearance. Rhinoplasty, offered by our Queensland plastic surgeon, is a method of improving the appearance of the nose by making it smaller or larger, bringing it into better proportion and balance with other features of the face. Rhinoplasty can help individuals who would like to:

Candidates for rhinoplasty are typically at least 14-15 years old with reasonable expectations for results.
To schedule a consultation for rhinoplasty at Pacific Plastic Surgery in the Bundaberg area or Elite Cosmetic Clinics in the Mackay region, please contact James Gaffield, M.D.

Rhinoplasty Procedure

Rhinoplasty is performed under general anesthesia on an outpatient basis. Dr. James Gaffield will make a discreet incision in the natural crease where the nose meets the face, resulting in no visible scarring. The bone of the nose and the cartilage are separated and reshaped to reflect the desired outcome, and the incisions are closed. A temporary splint is applied so the nose will retain the new shape, and nasal packing gauze may be necessary for a short while to control bleeding and stabilize the septum. Rhinoplasty typically takes only an hour or two to complete.

Rhinoplasty Recovery

You can expect to experience some bruising and swelling in the nasal area after the procedure. The head should be elevated for the first day after rhinoplasty. Residual pain and discomfort can be alleviated with medication. The nasal splint and stitches are usually removed after one to two weeks following surgery, and nasal packing can typically come out after a few days. Most patients can resume normal activities after about a week; however, caution should be taken to protect the nose until it has completely healed.

You should also keep in mind that the effects of the procedure may not begin to show for a few weeks, and the final results of rhinoplasty can take six months to a year to be fully apparent.

Dr. Gaffield will discuss all aspects of the procedure with you at the initial rhinoplasty consultation.
